Welcome to The Rhino Arena, a brand new Equestrian indoor arena in Colwell, West Northumberland. This 24 x 60m features a high quality wax cushion track surface, perfect for all disciplines. We are open for individual hire, coaching clinics & to organisations such as Pony Clubs & Riding Clubs.

Hire Our Arena
Private Hire
Groups & Organisations
The arena is available for private hire on Weekdays, Evenings and Weekends. Each booking session lasts one hour, with up to 4 horses in the arena at one time. Hire is £20 per hour for one horse, with each subsequent horse just £5 additional charge.
We welcome Pony Clubs, Riding Clubs and Organisations looking to place a group booking, as well as local instructors hosting clinics and coaching sessions. Show jump trailers can be brought and set up in the arena, as well as dressage boards and games equipment.
World Class Surface
Our arena features a high-quality Cushion Track Premier surface, a durable and luxury wax perfect for all disciplines. Regarded as a high level performance surface, it provides excellent cushioning and high levels of shock absorption. Constructed with a unique blend of multi-washed silica sand and environmentally friendly synthetic stabilising fibres, our Cushion Track Premier is highly durable and has been designed to withstand continual daily use and heavy footfall, in all weathers.

Cushion Track Premier is used at various venues across the country such as Arena UK, Scottish National Equestrian Centre and local arena West Moor Park Equestrian, Morpeth.
About Us
Rhino Arena and Colwell Equestrian are ran by Clare & Selby North Lewis, featuring a friendly, family run livery yard on a working farm. Clare enjoys competing herself at a low level, alongside daughter Polly, who has enjoyed success in National Level Tetrathlon, Pony Club and Eventing.
Why the name?
The reason is hidden in this dressage sheet. My darling mare removed the elegance from a dressage test, performed numerous party tricks and left the arena on more than one occasion. To be quite honest, I thought this test was an improvement! But she was referred to as a scolded rhino by the judge... which had me hysterically laughing, and its been her nickname since!
